Thrift Shop
The vision for the Thrift and Gift Shop became a reality in 1992 with the construction of the Emergency Shelter. Donations from our donors and the community were abundant and more than our daily residents could use. Our request to HomeAid Orange County and Southwest Diversified Builders, who were doing our expansion, was to build us a small Shop to sell all the "extra" donated items to pay some of our operational costs.
How it began: From 1992 to 2001 we had a small 700 square foot room, staffed 6 days a week by volunteers. In 2001 we acquired our current shop with approximately 2100 square feet and still maintain six days a week, with volunteers sorting and selling the items donated to the shop. We are able to support approximately 40% of our operating costs by selling all the donated items not used for our residents.
How you can directly affect our residents:
Volunteer at the Thrift Shop! Volunteers are ALWAYS needed for sorting, pricing, checking out customers, and cleaning/dusting.
Donate to the Thrift Shop! We gladly accept all clothing, household items, small appliances, books, toys, antiques, and more. We CANNOT accept mattresses, large appliances, or large furniture items.
Donation Hours:
Monday and Saturday from 10:00am-1:00pm
Tuesday-Friday from 10:00am-4:00pm
Shop 'til you drop and help make our vision a reality! Hunt for special items or shop to add to your wardrobe. Whatever you're looking for, you'll be sure to get a great deal at the Thrift Shop while shopping guiltlessly for a cause.
